Background:
Sheila graduated from Albany Medical Center School of Nursing
in 1985. She served in hospital coronary care units and also
as a private duty nurse in sub-acute care. After many years
of seeing and increasing trend of patients with preventable
illnesses, Sheila decided to redirect her focus to preventative
health care. She graduated from the Swedish Institute in 1993
with a license in Massage Therapy and soon after got certified
by the American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer. She
then went on to get her certification as an Advanced Sports/Medical
Massage Therapist and Medical Exercise Specialist.
As a Registered Nurse, Sheila is a valuable resource to clients
that have medical/physical conditions. She concentrates largely
on clients who are rehabilitating from illness, physical injury
or surgery and who are cleared by their physician to engage
in a health/ fitness /post rehabilitation program. Sheila designs
a comprehensive and measurable safe, effective health/fitness/post
rehab program specific to her client’s needs.
Massage therapy is one of Sheila’s focus areas. She believes
it is important to have strong muscles but equally important
is to have healthy muscles. She specializes in massage between
sets of specific exercise movements and instills in her clients
that with proper rest, nutrition and exercise, one can help
improve the quality of their muscles, thus, their overall health.
Sheila has given lectures to professional groups and organizations
on exercise, osteoporosis, and diabetes. She is an occasional
co-host for John Boos’ morning radio program. As manager,
Sheila immensely contributes to the daily operation of John
Boos Strength/Fitness/Massage facility.
Sheila resides in West Babylon with her husband and two children
